Pence Declares November ‘Adoption’ Month

INDIANAPOLIS (AP): Gov. Mike Pence has declared November “Adoption Awareness Month'' and is urging improvements in the state's adoption process.

Pence says the state must continue to work to work to try to find a love home for every child in Indiana. The governor touted an adoption tax credit he won from lawmakers earlier this year, but said more must be done. He noted the Department of Child Services is recruiting families to adopt between 75 and 100 children.

The governor also an adoption fair at the Statehouse on Monday. Pence has called for making Indiana the nation's “most pro-adoption state.''

Adoption is a personal topic for Pence. He and his wife went through the adoption process before their first child was born. They later had two daughters.
