Pence Apologizes for Deleted Facebook Comments

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) _ Indiana Gov. Mike Pence is apologizing for his staff deleting comments from his official Facebook page that criticized a statement he issued supporting the state’s ban on gay marriage.

Pence’s apology was posted Friday on the same Facebook page.

A handful of gay marriage supporters complained that their comments were deleted and profiles blocked from the governor’s Facebook page after Pence posted a statement Wednesday saying he would support a state constitutional ban on gay marriage.

Pence said Thursday the comments were deleted because they were vulgar and inflammatory.

But Pence posted Friday that a review found some comments were deleted because they disagreed with his opinion.

The statement says he’s told his staff that comments shouldn’t be deleted due to their opinion.
