Pedestrian Fatally Struck in SW Indiana Community

OAKLAND CITY, Ind. (AP): Authorities say a pedestrian has died after being hit by a vehicle with a suspected drunken driver behind the wheel in a southwestern Indiana community.
 
Police say the woman was hit along a street Thursday night in Gibson County's Oakland City and was taken by a medical helicopter for treatment.
 
State police Sgt. Todd Ringle tells WFIE-TV that the woman later died. He says a 29-year-old woman has been arrested on a charge of driving while intoxicated causing death.
 
The identity of the victim wasn't immediately released. Oakland City is about 25 miles north of Evansville.
