Paul Ryan vs. Richard Mourdock

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) – Indiana Democrats are taking full advantage of Republican vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan’s disagreement with Republican U.S. Senate nominee Richard Mourdock’s thoughts on political compromise.

Ryan said last week he disagreed with Mourdock’s belief that compromise means Democrats acquiescing to Republicans. Democratic Senate candidate Joe Donnelly is spending $140,000 this week spreading Ryan’s comments via a new campaign commercial airing statewide.

Mourdock and Donnelly are running in a tight race to succeed longtime U.S. Sen. Richard Lugar.

Mourdock has recently tamped down from those comments and others as he repositions himself for the general election. His new tack has focused on tying Donnelly to President Barack Obama and dubbing the congressman “Obama Joe.”

Ryan is scheduled to stop in Indianapolis Sept
