FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Park Employees are paying back.

Officials with the city and the parks department presented a check for more than $3 thousand dollars for Community Harvest Food Bank's childhood hunger program.

“We have a lot of kids that come in there and haven’t eaten,” Al Moll of the Parks Department said. “We are able to provide food for the youth after-school and during the summer.”

Last year the food bank provided nearly 70 thousand meals to hundreds of students through its Parks department's Kids Cafe food program and Kids BackPack initiative that provides snacks over the weekend for needy kids.

The money comes from donations, and a portion of ticket sales at a recent Parks Department concert at Foellinger Theater and from the employees’ service fund.
