Paper straw demand sees huge gains for Fort Wayne business

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A Fort Wayne company is hoping to gain some ground in the fight to protect the environment… from plastic straws.

Straws almost always come with a drink order at a restaurant or a baseball game, but environmental groups say they can have a devastating impact on the environment, from littering to wildlife choking to death on them.

Some cities and states have either banned or considered banning plastic straws, which leads to an opportunity for Aardvark Straws. They’re the only company in the country that makes paper straws that don’t break down in your drink, which the Indy Star reports are in high demand and short supply.

The company’s David Rhodes says the desire by many to move to paper has caused Aardvark’s growth to expand by 5,000% in the past year alone. The company has customers in every state and in 34 countries, and ships hundreds of millions of their patented paper straws.

Oh, for God’s sake, ENOUGH ALREADY! Leave the straws alone!

Want to know where the US is in total plastic pollution? 1st? 2nd?

Try TWENTIETH!

And they did a survey in California beaches, and found that only FOUR PERCENT of the plastic waste left on the beaches was straws!

Please, it’s time to stop blaming America, and American products/inventions, for everything!

Use Plastic Straws!
