Pain Doctor’s Medical License Suspended

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): The medical license of Dr. William P. Hedrick has been suspended after he was suspected of prescribing too many pain medications to his patients.

According to a press release, the Attorney General's Office filed a petition with the Indiana Medical Licensing Board to immediately suspend Hedrick's license to practice medicine, alleging he falsified patient medical records and prescriptions.

Police searched one of his Pain Relief clinics in Muncie after eight of Dr. Hedrick's died of drug overdose. The prescriptions to those patients were issued between January 2013 and January 2014.

On Wednesday, the board suspended Hedrick's license for 90 days while a formal licensing complaint is filed.

Charges have not yet been filed, but the doctor will be on probation for a minimum of two years. Dr. Hedrick's office is based in Fort Wayne and he operates a dozen pain clinics all over northern Indiana.
