FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Fort Wayne city councilman Geoff Paddock will hold a public input meeting next week to discuss support for a hate crime resolution.

The meeting will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 30 from 5:30 to 7 pm in room 30 of Citizens Square.

“Indiana is one of only 5 states that does not have a hate crimes law on its books, and Governor Eric Holcomb has indicated he would like to see legislation passed during the next session,” Paddock said.  “I think it is important the citizens of Fort Wayne support this effort.  I am also contacting my colleagues on City Council to see if we can get the necessary votes to pass a resolution urging the General Assembly to act on Governor Holcomb’s request.”

The next Indiana General Assembly session begins in January.

A proposed resolution wouldn’t go before the Fort Wayne city council until November.
