Out of Washington, Pence redefines his image…

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Mike Pence is looking to distance himself from his reputation as a staunch social crusader as he focuses on jobs in his new role as Indiana’s 50th governor.

Pence will be sworn in Monday as the successor to business-minded Mitch Daniels.

He’s laid out a “roadmap” for Indiana that focuses on jobs and education. The social causes he championed in six terms in Congress are conspicuously absent, and that’s likely by design.

Pence’s new job gives him a chance to redefine himself and broaden his appeal should he decide to run for president in 2016. Many religious conservatives consider Pence and Florida U.S. Senator Marco Rubio the top two conservative candidates in the White House campaign.
