KOSCIUSKO COUNTY, Ind. (WOWO) – Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched around 3:40 a.m. Monday to a crash at the U.S. 30 and State Road 19 intersection.

Deputies and emergency personnel found Vicki Sue Bartz, 52 of South Whitley, pinned inside her 2015 Chevy Traverse.

Bartz pronounced dead at the scene by the Kosciusko County Coroner Office. She sustained injuries from blunt force trauma.

A preliminary investigation determined Bartz was traveling westbound on U.S. 30, when she stopped for a traffic light at the intersection of State Road 19.

A 2015 Freightliner semi was also westbound on U.S. 30 and collided into the rear of Bartz’s vehicle at highway speed.

Investigators stated that the driver of the semi may have fallen asleep prior to the collision.

The crash is still currently under investigation.
