FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): The Indiana Tech Law School in Fort Wayne saw 20 students in its first graduating class this year.

But of those 20, only 12 took the Indiana Bar Exam, and only 1 ended up passing the test, which is required to legally practice law in the state.

The News-Sentinel reports that a college spokesman says the passing number could actually be higher, as a number of students are within “appeal range,” while one former student told the paper only one of the three top students bothered to take the test, as many cited personal reasons for not taking it yet.

He also says the school did a good job preparing students, and shouldn’t be blamed.

55 law students are currently enrolled in the school, which was accredited by the American Bar Association earlier this year.
