STEUBEN COUNTY, Ind. (WOWO): One person is dead after a Friday night motorcycle crash in Steuben County.

Just after 11 p.m., Steuben County Communications received a report of a motorcycle crash on Fremont road north of CR 700 N.

When emergency crews arrived to the scene, they found a motorcycle in a field on the west side of the roadway. Located next to the motorcycle was a subject who was unconscious. Police say it appeared the driver was traveling south on Fremont road when the motorcycle failed to negotiate the curve, went off the west side of the roadway, and struck a tree head on.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene by the Steuben County Coroner’s office from blunt force trauma. The driver was not wearing a helmet at time the crash. The incident remains under investigation.
