One dead in Kosciusko County house fire

CLAYPOOL, Ind. (WOWO): An early morning fire on Saturday has claimed a life near Claypool.

The fire broke out just before 3 a.m. Saturday at a home on South Valentine Road near Yellow Creek Lake. Firemen from the Burket/Seward Township Fire Department responded and put out the blaze.

The Kosicusko County Coroner’s Office confirms that the burned remains of a man or woman was taken from the home. The body was taken to the Northeast Indiana Forensic Center for identification as 46-year-old John Etchison. He was identified through dental records.

The cause of the fire has ruled to be “accidental.”
