One Dead in Noblesville Shooting

NOBLESVILLE,  Ind. (WOWO): A woman was injured and a man is dead following a shooting and SWAT standoff Monday afternoon in Noblesville.

Noblesville Police Lt. Bruce Barnes says officers were called on a report of a possible person shot. When they arrived, officers found a woman suffering from a gunshot wound. Her injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.

As police attempted to determine what happened, they learned there was a man inside the home that might have information. Officers set up a perimeter around the home and SWAT officers and crisis negotiators were called to the scene. Barnes says crisis negotiators talked with the man for about 45 minutes until communication broke down. After several attempts to reestablish communication failed, SWAT officers decided to enter the home.

At about 6:30 p.m., officers entered the home and found the man dead. Police are not saying how the man died. It‘s also unclear what led to the shooting and what the relationship between the man and the victim was.

The investigation is ongoing.
