One dead after early-morning Fort Wayne shooting

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): The Fort Wayne Police Department is investigating an early-morning shooting that happened on the southeast side of town Thursday.

Officers were called to the 500 block of East Sherwood Terrace, east of Lafayette Park, around 3 a.m. Police found a man who had been shot lying in an alley between Monroe and Warsaw streets.

He was taken to a nearby hospital in critical condition.

Fort Wayne Police spokesman Michael Joyner confirmed to WOWO news the victim died in the hospital around 5 a.m.

Officers haven’t identified the victim yet, and aren’t sure if he’s an adult or juvenile.
