Ohio woman hospitalized after crash in Spencerville

SPENCERVILLE, Ind. (WOWO): An Ohio woman was hospitalized in critical condition after a tree fell on her van.

At 4:39 p.m. Thursday, a woman was driving east on C.R. 68 west of S.R. 101 in Spencerville when a tree fell on her van. It struck the roof of the van between the windshield and the rear of the front seats, according to the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Department. 

The sudden strike caused the woman to veer off the north side of the road. She hit a tree before coming to a stop. She was pinned inside the vehicle and needed to be extricated by fire personnel.

Two minors were inside the van and suffered minor injuries. Shugars was last listed in critical condition with a fractured neck and lacerations to the head.
