INDIANAPOLIS (AP) _ The two Indiana statewide office holders running in this fall's election say they aren't taking advantage of a State Ethics Commission ruling that they could use government computers for campaign purposes.
The ethics commission found last month that Republican former state schools Superintendent Tony Bennett violated agency rules by coordinating his campaign calendar on state computers. The commission ruled statewide elected officials aren't subject to state laws banning political activity on state time or equipment.
Spokeswomen for Indiana Secretary of State Connie Lawson and state Auditor Suzanne Crouch tell The Times of Munster that neither Republican is doing campaign work on government equipment.
Lawson spokeswoman Valerie Kroeger says Lawson does maintain a single calendar on state computers for her state, political and personal activities.
