Officials Rethinking Hog Wrestling at Delaware County Fair

MUNCIE, Ind. (AP): Muncie and Delaware County officials are reconsidering hog wrestling at this year's county fair following pleas to cancel the event.

Two of the three county commissioners said Monday that they're having second thoughts about allowing hog wrestling to continue at the fair.

Commissioner Shannon Henry says she doesn't want people to look down on the Delaware County Fair. Commissioner Sherry Riggin says she would like to take a stand for the pigs, because all animals should be treated with respect.

Both Henry and Riggin plan to look into the issue further, but the decision ultimately will be up to the fair board.

They also say finding a replacement event that can bring in $12,000 in revenue would be difficult.
