Oak Farm Montessori’s Miracle

22 Lower Elementary students were shopping for holiday gifts for needy children; a man approached the group and asked why are these kids not in school, when he learned that they were using money they raised to buy gifts for other children, the man offered to pay for their eight large shopping carts. The students were amazed, thanked him repeatedly and asked for a photo: the man’s response, “No thanks, I don’t need any recognition. What happened today is between you, me and God.”

LETTER SENT TO PARENTS:

Dear Parents,

Today, twenty two Lower Elementary students experienced a miracle. The students were shopping for holiday gifts for needy children. Waiting in line at the Wal-Mart register, their teacher was approached by a gentleman asking, “Why are these children not at school?”  When he learned that they were using money they raised to buy gifts for other children, the man offered to pay for the items.  One of the teachers replied that there were twenty two students who had shopped filling eight large carts.  Would he like to pay for some part of the collection?  “NO”, he said; I’ll pay for it all.”  The students were amazed at this random act of kindness, thanking him and asking if they could have a photo with him.  “No thanks”, he replied, “I don’t need any recognition. What happened today is between you, me and God.”

The fact that this event happened today after discussing the Connecticut shooting caused students to reflect,” I feel safer now knowing there are kind people other there. Our teacher talked about people making choices, good ones and bad ones. This man showed us a good choice.”
