NW Ind. Police Critically Injure Shooter

HOBART, Ind. (AP) _ An investigation is underway into the police shooting of a suspect in northwest Indiana.
 
The Post Tribune and The Times of Munster report the Lake County Sheriff's department is investigating a shooting late Thursday night in Hobart. Hobart police say a suspect who allegedly fired at police officers was in critical condition after being shot by officers.
 
Hobart police say an officer saw a shooting take place between two vehicles near the Merrillville town line. A person in one vehicle was shot. Officers went to investigate the other vehicle, which had driven off the road. When officers approached, they were fired upon and returned fire.
 
Police say both gunshot victims are in critical condition.
 
Hobart police say a preliminary administrative review revealed no wrongdoing by officers.
