NW Ind. Attorney Charged with Stealing $1.6M

VALPARAISO, Ind. (AP): A northwestern Indiana attorney faces criminal charges that he stole $1.6 million from four businesses.

Porter County prosecutors say 52-year-old Clark Holesinger of Valparaiso stole the money while doing work for four businesses. He faces four felony counts of theft that were filed Thursday.

The Times of Munster reports he's accused of taking nearly $820,000 from a company that had hired him to calculate and pay its payroll and sales taxes. He's also charged with stealing money from the other companies since 2011 through checks to himself and wire transfers.

A telephone message left by The Associated Press at Holesinger's law office seeking comment wasn't immediately returned Friday.
