Northwestern Indiana Crash Kills Michigan Couple

LAKE VILLAGE, Ind. (AP) _ A northwestern Indiana coroner has identified a Michigan couple as the victims of a two-vehicle crash that also left several people injured.

Newton County Coroner Scott McCord says 85-year-old Robert Lee McDaniel and Ilea McDaniel of Berrien Springs, Michigan, died in the crash Monday morning on Indiana 10 near the Illinois state line. Ilea McDaniel's age was unavailable.

Police say the crash occurred when the vehicle Robert McDaniel was driving eastbound on Ind. 10 lost traction and slid into the path of an oncoming minivan. They say at least five people in the minivan were transported to local hospitals for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
