Northern Indiana Student Arrested After Shooting Threat

GOSHEN, Ind. (AP) _ Police have arrested a northern Indiana student for allegedly threatening to shoot multiple people at his high school.

Police say the Goshen High School student was arrested Tuesday and lodged in the Elkhart County Juvenile Detention Center on an intimidation charge.

Police said a school resource officer and school staff members apprehended the boy and searched his belongings and locker. No weapon was found.

School officials report the student said he wasn't serious about the threat sent in a text, but thought his comment would be funny. The threat was directed toward the entire school and suggested the suspect would harm many people. Officials say a parent noticed the threat on Facebook and called the high school to warn the staff.
