North Manchester Man Seriously Injured in “Ditch Collapse”

              


KOSCIUSKO COUNTY, Ind. (WOWO): A North Manchester man was seriously injured Wednesday when he was involved in a ditch “cave-in” in southern Kosciusko County.

The Silver Lake Fire Department and medics got a call just after 2:30 p.m., Wednesday afternoon in regards to a potential ditch that collapsed in a field on State Road 14.

Once on the scene, emergency crews found the victim, 66-year-old Dennis Ayres, buried in dirt up to his neck.

Kosciusko County police say that Dennis and his brother, had been installing field tile when the dirt walls began to collapse. Family members arrived and began digging to relieve the pressure on Ayres, who was subsequently rescued from the hole. He was immediately airlifted by helicopter to a local hospital in serious condition with shoulder and torso injuries.
