NOBLESVILLE, Ind. (AP) – A southwestern Indiana man has died in a farm accident.

The Hamilton County Sheriff's Office says 76-year-old Jimmie J. Adams of Noblesville died Sunday evening after he was run over by a tractor. 

Authorities say their initial investigation shows Adams was working on the tractor in a field and didn't realize it was in gear. The tractor started moving forward with no one driving. Adams tried to climb aboard to stop it but slipped and fell in its path. The tractor stopped after it ran over Adams and struck other farm equipment.

Family members called medics, who tried to rescue Adams. However he died before an air ambulance could take him to a hospital.
