NIPSCO: Power Restored to 90 Percent of Customers

NIPSCO says approximately 90% of customers impacted by Monday’s damaging winter storm have been restored, and crews continue to work to re-connect those still without power.

Spokesman Nick Meyer says there are nearly 476 individual repairs that need to be completed across the system. Nearly all communities still affected could be re-connected by late tonight.

Meyer says about 500 people are working actively and around the clock to bring electricity back to every customer.

The rain, sleet, ice mixture is some of NIPSCO's most challenging weather because it weighs down the power lines.
