NIPSCO Donates $15,000 to CHFB for Christmas Meals

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO) – A utility company is helping make a Merrier Christmas in Northeast Indiana.

NIPSCO has contributed $15,000 to Community Harvest Food Bank. The food bank will use the donation to provide turkey and 50 pounds of food to about 600 families in nine area counties.

Families are selected based on extreme need by 40 agencies.

'We have some families going through health issues,” said Steve Corona, Community Harvest's resource development officer. “Bills mount up quickly. That doesn't make for a very pleasant holiday.”

The food bank feeds more than 21,000 people every week.
