Nine People at Anderson Dentistry Charged in Fraud Probe

ANDERSON, Ind. (AP) _ Prosecutors have charged the owner of an Anderson dental practice and eight of her employees in connection with a Medicaid fraud investigation.

Fifty-seven-year-old Sally Metzner of the Anderson Dental Center faces seven charges of Medicaid fraud, three counts of theft, money laundering, forgery and other charges in Madison Circuit Court. Three dentists face charged of Medicaid fraud, theft, money laundering and corrupt business influence, and five other employees faces charges including forgery and prescription drug fraud.

The Indiana Attorney General's Office said the practice received more than $300,000 in ineligible Medicaid payments. Among other allegations, instead of billing Medicaid $30 for the anesthesia nitrous oxide, the dentistry allegedly billed it as a $125 intravenous procedure known as “deep sedation.''
