Next Round of Riverfront Study Public Input Meetings Scheduled

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): More Riverfront Study meetings have been scheduled and you're invited to attend.

During the public input meetings, the SWA Group will present specific ideas for Fort Wayne’s downtown riverfront. After the meetings, you can visit the Envision Fort Wayne Center on Calhoun Street and take a closer look at the concepts and provide feedback as well.

Enhancing our downtown riverfront is critical to maintaining our city’s momentum,” said Fort Wayne Mayor Tom Henry. “As we enter the next phase of the Riverfront Fort Wayne study, citizen input is more critical than ever. I invite everyone to get involved and let us know what you’d like to see happen along our rivers.”

The two meetings will take place downtown at the main branch of the Allen County Public Library in the theater. The meetings are scheduled for:

· Wednesday, July 23, 2014, 5:30-7:30 p.m. with a presentation at 5:45 p.m. and

· Thursday, July 24, 2014, 11 a.m.-1p.m. with a presentation at 11:15 a.m.

In November 2013, the City contracted with the SWA Group to complete the Riverfront Study, which is the first comprehensive look at enhancing the use of the city’s rivers. After reviewing your input, SWA Group will examine the concepts and present more refined ideas in October.

A final plan is expected to be unveiled in January 2015.
