Next City Clerk Requests State Audit

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): The next Fort Wayne City Clerk wants to make absolutely sure things are on the up-and-up when she takes office in January.

Republican Lana Keesling was elected in a virtual landslide after undercover video showed alleged electioneering underway in the Clerk's office under former Clerk Sandy Kennedy and former Deputy Clerk Angie Davis. Now the News-Sentinel reports that Keesling is asking the State to conduct a five-year audit of the office, encompassing “all monies coming in or out,” saying she wants to start with a “clean slate” to rebuild the public's trust in the office.

A City ethics probe has already led to the confiscation of computers used by Kennedy, Davis, and other staff members involved in the controversy.
