FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Some new details are emerging into the crash that killed a Bishop Dwenger Student.
35-year-old Jeremy Washing got into a drunken fight with Chad Jackson at the Corner Pocket Pub early Saturday morning. The fight escalated beyond the bar into the parking lot and that’s when shots were fired. According to the Journal Gazette, Washington pulled out a gun and began firing into the SUV that Jackson was riding in. Jackson was hit in the neck. He was taken to the hospital where doctors removed the bullet. Washington sped away from the parking lot.
He made it about three miles down the road near Stellhorn and Hobson Roads. He ignored a red light and slammed into the side door of car driven by 17-year-old Haley Nellum. The impact was so hard, it caused Nellum’s car to flip over.
She was on her way home from visiting with a friend when her car was hit. Nellum was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to court documents, Washington’s blood-alcohol level was 0.15 percent, nearly two times Indiana’s legal limit of 0.08 percent. The New Haven man is currently in the Allen County Jail on a of $130,000 bail. He faces eight preliminary charges:
Aggravated Battery, a class B felony
Reckless Homicide, a class C felony
Causing Death When Operating a Motor Vehicle with an ACE of .08 or More, a class C felony
Causing Death When Operating a Motor Vehicle While Intoxicated, a class C felony
Criminal Recklessness-Use of Deadly Weapon and Inflicts SBI on Another, a class C felony

Nellum was a sophomore at Bishop Dwenger High School, where she played basketball and volleyball.
Nellum's funeral will take place at 10:30 a.m., at St. Charles on Monday, April 7th. The viewing is scheduled for Sunday from 2:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m., with Vigil Service at 8:30 p.m., at D.O.McComb & Sons on Maplecrest.
