New Survey Ranks Indiana Seniors Below Average in Health

The survey done by the United Health Foundation ranks Indiana 32nd in the nation for the health of residents over 65 years of age. The Hoosier state ranks 36th for obesity, 42nd for physical inactivity, and 44th for smoking among seniors. Dr. Patrick Healey, a geriatrician with St. Vincent Hospital Center for Healthy Aging, says that a sedentary lifestyle, obesity, and tobacco all play a part in poor health and the state’s ranking. Dr. Healey also notes that it’s never too late to change your lifestyle.
