New Indiana State Senator Sued by Ex-employer

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (AP) – A newly elected Indiana state senator is being sued by his stepmother's company over allegations that he misspent about $55,000 on himself.

The lawsuit was filed in Vigo County court against Republican Jon Ford six days before he won election last week in a Terre Haute-area Senate district.

Ford tells the Tribune-Star that he and his attorney haven't reviewed the lawsuit but that he had disagreements with his stepmother over his expenses before he was terminated as All State Manufacturing's chief operating officer in April.

The lawsuit claims Ford was paid for expenses that were actually for personal use or with insufficient evidence of business purpose.

Ford defeated longtime Democratic Sen. Tim Skinner in the Nov. 4 election.
