New Criminal Charges in Crash that Killed Bishop Dwenger Student

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Formal murder charges have been filed against a local man who is accused in a drunk driving accident that killed a 17-year-old student.

The county prosecutors office filed the charge Friday against 35-year old Jeremy Washington of New Haven, according to the Journal-Gazette. That's in connection to the death of Bishop Dwenger sophomore Haley Nellums in March.

Washington is expected to be in court Monday.

Washington is already charged with multiple counts of attempted murder, aggravated battery, reckless homicide and causing death while operating intoxicated

The student was driving home from a friends house when the collision happened. According to court documents, Washington was driving at 103 mph when his car slammed into the driver's side of Nellums car. That sent the car rolling several times.

Washington had gotten into a fight at a nearby bar where shots were fired, injuring one person.
