New Castle Man Injured After Rolling Truck

NEW CASTLE, Ind. (WOWO): A morning crash in Grant County has left one man severely injured.

Around 9:25 a.m. Thursday morning, officers responded to a crash on north bound I-69 and mike marker 262 near between US 35 and SR 18. They found 61 year old Jeffery Smiley of New Castle severely injured. Police say he was driving too fast on slick roads and lost control of his pickup truck, rolling at least once and leading back on his tires.

He was trapped in the vehicle and firefighters had to extract him from the truck. The passenger, 53 year old Greg Callahan of New Castle suffered head and back injuries. Smiley, the driver, was not injured. Both were wearing seat belts.

Neither alcohol or narcotics are suspected to be a factor.
