Neighbor Helps Foil Fort Wayne Gas Station Robbery

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A heads-up neighbor were able to help Fort Wayne police arrest a robbery suspect.

A Lassus BP gas station on Stellhorn Road between Reed and Maplecrest was reportedly robbed at about 5:45 p.m. Sunday. The Journal-Gazette is reporting an officer was actually fueling up his police vehicle at the station when the suspect, 29 year old Mark Collar, bolted out of the store.

Collar got in a car and drove off, but not before a nearby resident reportedly got a photo of the car and its license plate.

Officers were waiting at Collar's home on West Creighton Avenue not even an hour later. He tried to drive away, but police caught up to him at the intersection of Harrison and West Creighton.

He's in custody at the Allen County Jail on a charge of robbery.
