FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): August 3 is National Watermelon Day!
The refreshing fruit is perfect on a hot summer day and since it’s National Watermelon Day you almost have to grab a bite of the fruit.
Below is a list of three watermelon recipes from Real Simple to help you celebrate the day.
Watermelon-Mint Cooler
You need four cups of seedless watermelon chunks (about 1 pound), 1 1/2 cups of lemonade and 1/2 cup of fresh mint.
First, mix the watermelon and lemonade in a blender. Then stir in the mint and serve over ice.
Watermelon-Lime Cooler
You need six cups of seedless watermelon chunks, four tablespoons of frozen limeade concentrate, 2 tablespoons of fresh lime juice, 1 1/2 cups of crushed ice and lime slices for garnish.
Combine all ingredients in a blender and mix until smooth.
Watermelon, Lime, Ginger pops
You will need one small seedless watermelon chopped, 1/3 cup of sugar, 1/3 cup of fresh lime juice, 2 teaspoons of grated fresh ginger and a pinch of fine salt.
Puree the watermelon, sugar, lime juice, ginger and salt in a blender. Then pour the mixture into 10 3-ounce or eight 4-ounce pop molds. Put in ice-pop sticks and freeze until firm.
