Muncie Teen, 16, Arrested on Preliminary Murder Charge

MUNCIE, Ind. (AP) _ Muncie police have arrested a 16-year-old boy on a preliminary murder charge in the home invasion slaying of an 18-year-old man.

Police Chief Steve Stewart said the teen was taken into custody Thursday evening at a Muncie home in connection with Christian Orebaugh's fatal shooting.

The Star Press reports the suspect will be dealt with for now as a juvenile. He won't be publicly identified until formal charges are filed.

Deputy Prosecutor Zach Craig said Thursday night he was uncertain whether those charges would be filed before next week against the 16-year-old slaying suspect.

Orebaugh died July 2 from a single gunshot wound to the torso he suffered after intruders entered his home.

Witnesses told police they saw three men fleeing from the house after the shot was fired.
