Multiple Fire Departments Fight Barn Fire In Orland

STEUBEN COUNTY, Ind. (WOWO): Multiple fire crews were called to a barn fire in Orland that left one person injured.

 

According to officials with the Orland Fire Department, the blaze broke out around 11:30 p.m., Friday night on County Road 350 North. Once crews got to the scene from Orland, Fremont, Angola, Hudson and Salem, it took them about 2 ½ hours to battle the fire.

 

A neighbor was badly burned after trying to put out the blaze before firefighters arrived. He was treated on the scene and then taken to a local hospital.

 

According to officials numerous pieces of farm equipment were in the barn at the time of the blaze, causing an estimated $175,000 worth of damage. The barn was also a total loss.

 

The cause of the fire is being ruled an accident.
