More IRS Scams Circulating Throughout Fort Wayne

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): The Better Business Bureau of Northern Indiana is still receiving numerous reports from people getting phone calls allegedly from the IRS.

The IRS impostor threatens to have the victim arrested and incarcerated, for failing to pay income taxes.  A new tactic, with the same request (“we need a wire transfer, Green Dot Card, Money Pak, etc. or the suit will be filed”) has surfaced.

The Fort Wayne Police Department called to inform the BBB that an individual received a call from the IRS impersonator saying they would be filing a lawsuit against him if he did not call back.  The number [313-327-3030] was from Detroit, MI and it's reported that the impersonator had a very thick accent.

Should you receive these calls, be assured that it is not the IRS and that you are in no trouble.  The IRS does not call and threaten people for failure to pay back taxes.
