FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO: The City of Fort Wayne is honoring its own. Mayor Tom Henry highlighted the city's military service members this morning as 16 additional Blue Star Banners were hung along Jefferson Boulevard near Swinney Park.

A fresh batch of Blue Star Banners are flying west of downtown. Mayor Tom Henry recognized 16 more active duty military service membes who are deployed internationally.

Mayor Henry says its a way city the city can remember its own sons and daughters when they are far from home. If you would like to nominate a service member for a banner, you can find more details at www.cityoffortwayne.org/bluestarbanner.

In May, Command Sergeant Major Brian Kiess became the city's first Blue Star recipient. Kiess is an actively deployed member of the United States Army Reserve and works in the City’s Division of Public Works.
