Moped Driver Struck and Killed on U.S. 24 During 3-Vehicle Crash

HUNTINGTON COUNTY, Ind. (21 Alive) – A three-vehicle crash turns fatal causing several lane closures during Monday morning commute.

The multi-vehicle crash happened at 6:06 a.m. Monday morning. A moped was trying to turn onto U.S. 24 from 750 West in Huntington County near Andrews. The driver of the moped struck a Jeep and crashed. The female driver of the Jeep got out of her vehicle to check on the driver of the moped. Once she checked she got into her Jeep. A semi then came down U.S. 24, clipped the Jeep, and ran over the moped and its driver.

The semi then caught fire. The driver of the moped was killed in the crash. No specific identities have been released at this time, but the driver of the Jeep is an elderly woman. Both the driver of the Jeep and semi are okay.

Both Eastbound lanes of U.S. 24 are currently closed near State Road 105.
