Mission Trip Brings Young And Old Together

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Young and old will be traveling for a mission trip in the mountains.

A group of Fort Wayne residents at the Towne House Retirement Community will be working along side students at a small private school in the Smokey Mountains.  The retirees and students will be doing light yard work, gardening, repairs, cleaning and sewing as well as volunteering in the library and office at the Oakdale Christian Academy in Jackson, Kentucky.

They'll be joined by other retirees from sister communities in Columbus and Indianapolis, Indiana.  The goal of the trip is to build friendships with the students, some of which are from at-risk situations.  The students come from 17 states and eight countries.
