Methamphetamine Arrests in Waterloo

WATERLOO, Ind. (WOWO):  An investigation conducted by the Waterloo Marshal's Department led to the arrests of two people.  As off 9:00 p.m. Sunday evening, officers were conducting a security check at a local factory, when they detected a chemical order, coming from a nearby garage.

Officers then obtained a search warrant for the residence located on West Street in Waterloo. Once inside the garage, police found numerous items used to operate a methamphetamine laboratory.

The Indiana State Police Suppression Team was then called to the scene to help with the investigation and hazardous materials removal.

42-year-old Keith Secrest, and 40-year-old Melissa Secrest were taken into custody and booked into the DeKalb County Jail on charges as follows:

Keith Secrest

1.       Dealing in Methamphetamine, a class A felony

2.       Possession of Precursors, a class C felony

3.       Possession of Methamphetamine, a class D felony

4.       Maintaining a Common Nuisance, a class D felony  

Melissa Secrest

1.       Conspiracy to Deal in Methamphetamine, a class a felony

2.       Possession of Precursors, a class c felony

3.       Possession of Methamphetamine, a class D felony

4.       Maintaining a Common Nuisance, a class D felony


Both Keith Secrest and Melissa Secrest are being held in the DeKalb County jail with no bond awaiting their initial court appearance.

Indiana State Child Protective Services were also called to the scene to provide services to the Secrest children ages seventeen, fourteen and eight.
