Meth lab investigation in Fremont turns into multi-state 100 mph police chase

FREMONT, Ind. (WOWO): Two people were arrested on drug charges after police say they led them on a high speed chase in Indiana and Michigan.

Police learned about a possible meth lab in the 800 block of East Toledo St. in Fremont on Wednesday afternoon, according to the Fremont Police Department.

Officers were in the area and noticed a vehicle leaving the house. The officers tried conduct a traffic stop, but the vehicle didn’t stop.

The vehicle led police on a chase into Branch County, Mich., and then into Hillsdale County, Mich. At times, police said they were driving more than 100 miles per hour.

Eventually, the vehicle drove and got stuck into a swamp.

Jeromy Hurd, 29, and Ashley Eichinger, 23, were arrested on preliminary charges of possession of meth, operating and maintaining a meth lab and resisting law enforcement with a vehicle.
