Men Stand Trial in Shooting That Left Victim Paralyzed

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Two men will stand trial together in an Allen County courtroom after they were charged in a 2014 shooting that left one man paralyzed.

According to the Journal Gazette, 21-year-old Kulon Lewis Jr. and 21-year-old Trayshaun Pernell will be tried in the attempted murder of Dytrell Allen.

Last November, Allen was paralyzed on the 2800 block of Drexel Avenue when a car pulled up alongside him and someone opened fire. As  he lay on the ground, Pernell stood over him and continued shooting.

The Journal Gazette reports both Lewis and Pernell face charges of attempted murder and aggravated battery.

Since their arrest, both men have been held at the Allen County Jail. The court will decide Wednesday the date of their next trial.
