Memorial Built for Suspected Serial Killer Victim

GARY, Ind. (AP) – A memorial to one of the suspected victims of a northwestern Indiana serial killer has been built outside the abandoned Gary house where her body was found.

Teaira Batey's longtime boyfriend built the memorial on Wednesday. It includes two white crosses with Batey's name and photograph, with four teddy bears hanging from the larger cross to represent Batey, her son and two daughters.

Marvin Clinton tells The Times of Munster (http://bit.ly/10344nh ) he wants others to know Batey had a family and “wasn't a monster.''

Clinton mowed part of the yard in front of the boarded-up house before creating the memorial. He put concrete around the crosses in hopes of making it a permanent fixture and added three small vases of flowers.
