Mayor Henry Talks Director of Public Safety Position, Homicide Rate

ALLEN COUNTY, Ind. (WOWO): As we've been talking about, Allen County has tied the record for most homicides in one year. And in the midst of this record, Mayor Tom Henry wants to have the position of Director of Public safety reinstated. The mayor joined Fort Wayne's Morning News and talked about the position, as well as the high homicide number. Mayor Henry says most of the homicides have dealt with the gang atmosphere, but he says, “That does not raise a comfort feeling for a lot of people who live throughout the city, because there surely could be an accidental shooting of somebody else.”  The City Council will vote next week on the position.
