(Visit Fort Wayne) – In an effort to bring more sporting events to the community, Visit Fort Wayne and Mayor Tom Henry announced that three tournaments have agreed to host their 2013 events in Fort Wayne. .

Tournament details are as followed:

July 18-21                           Lutheran Health SportsCenter (Fort Wayne Curling Club)

·2013 Women’s Flat Track Derby Association-Playoff Tournament
Sept. 6-8                              Memorial Coliseum (Fort Wayne Derby Girls)

·2013 Junior Volleyball Association Girls Midwest Power League Championships

The events will bring more than 4,000 new visitors and an estimated $500,000 in economic impact to the community.  This is the first time any of these events have been held in Fort Wayne. They come to our city due to the Special Grants Program funded by the City of Fort Wayne to help grow sports tourism in our community.

Fort Wayne beat out a handful of cities for these events, including Detroit, Oklahoma City, Minneapolis and Cleveland.
