Marion GM Plant to Host Open House

MARION, Ind. (WOWO): Marion's Metal Center is offering a rare look inside.

Friday officials are hosting an open house and community day. That includes a self-guided tour of the stamping plant.

The all-day event includes a car show featuring all makes of vehicles, a NASCAR show trailer, GM vehicle test drives and displays.

GM Spokesperson Stephanie Jentgen says people leave amazed. (They'll see) Everything from small seven or eight inch parts to huge door frames and beds for pick-up trucks. It's really fascinating.”

The event hosted at the factory on Second Street in Marion, runs from 9 am to 7 p.m. The plant stamps metal for a number of GM models, including the GMC Sierra and Chevy Silverado.
